My Preferences in Software
I love biases. Biases are so much fun to identify, so this about me will tell you what I'm biased towards in software. Of course, it's on the can, I love FREE stuff. I love completely free software, but I'm not completely adverse to the premium or pay-walled framework in software in apps as long as it isn't intrusive. Some software implement paywalls to such a degree that the software basically become unusable; however, on rare occasion I have found software with such non-intrusive paywalls that I didn't notice they were there. A good paywall is for extra functions. Basic functions listed on the can should operate completely independent of money spent by the user. Generally, the software I use on my PC is completely free.
I'm a certified Hater™ of AI. I don't want your co-pilot, gemini, grok, cortana, or whatever new fangled illerterate language algorithm theyre pumping out today. I used Duolingo for about 7 years, and not more because I deleted my account. I refuse to support AI slop in my language learning. I'm here to learn grammar not how language AI processes words, and why it can't count the numbers of R's in strawberry. If an O.S. or software has some AI chat feature, I'm digging through the settings to turn it off or deleting the software entirely.
I don't plan to make any “software I hate” article, at least not at the moment. For now my focus will be on shouting my praises and giving my love to my babies and lovely little .exe files.
