Audacity Review

Audacity is an open-source audio recording and editing software. The program can import multiple audio tracks and formats into one editing file, and the program can export a project or track into a miriad of audio formats. It's very easy to start editing audio especially with its good selection of audio effects. It has an extensive manual thoroughly describing all its features—way more than a cursory explanation can—which you should check out if you're interest in using the program. Audacity also has a paid cloud storage platform for saving and accessing projects and files across different platforms and devices. The program was first published on May 28th, 2000 with version 0.8, and as of May 28th, 2025, Audacity is 25 years old with version 3.7! They're celebrating with a release of merchandise store for users to purchase Audacity-themed apparel.

I'm no expert with Audacity—far from it—but, man, is it fun to plug in my logitech usb microphone (that was made for a disney sing along game on the Nintendo Wii) into my computer and try to make a stupid cover of a song I like or heck even a stupid original one. I've never consulted the manual myself, but I think that just shows how easy it is for a newbie to use. It's a great program with fun features for an idiot like me to play around with, and I love making stupid little projects with this software. If you're looking for an audio editing software for recreation or professional project, Audacity is the number one pick for me!
